After an incredibly frustrating day at Donington Park last round, the Ciceley Motorsport team head to Brands Hatch this weekend for the last race of the season.

The weekend started reasonably well at Donington, with Adam qualifying 11th on the grid. Unfortunately, things took a disappointing turn in race one. Adam started the race confident of making progress but contact with Jake Hill’s Ford Focus on lap three sent Adam brutally into the tyre wall. Thankfully, Adam emerged from the car unhurt, his car was a different story.

The damage to the rear of the car was severe, both rear corners needed replacing and both rear chassis legs were also badly damaged. Car builder Willie Poole joined the team to assist the Ciceley Motorsport mechanics. They pulled out all the stops to get Adam’s car back on the grid for race two but unfortunately time was against them. The damage to the car was just too bad, and as close as it was for the car to be ready, they couldn’t risk the BMW being incomplete and unsafe. So sadly, Adam had to sit the race out. They all worked hard to get the car ready for race three, which Adam and his race engineer, Steve Farrell decided to treat as a test session to help prepare for the final round this weekend.
Tom had a steady weekend, he qualified for race one in 19th position and, like Adam, was optimistic to move up the grid. After Adam’s off in lap three, the safety car was deployed and backed everyone one up. That made making up places more difficult and he finished in 19th position. He finished in 20th place in race two and came in 18th in the final race.

Luck has not really been on the team’s side for the last few races. However, we must remember in the first season for the BMW 330i M Sport cars, the team have achieved some fantastic successes with four podiums, including two wins so far.  It is with this in mind that Adam, Tom and the team head into the final round of the season, optimistic to end the season on a high.
The 2021 season draws to a close at Brands Hatch, the second visit this season to one of the world’s most iconic sporting venues. The last visit to the circuit was back in June and utilised the shorter Indy circuit. For the seasons last races, the longer 2.43m circuit will be used.
