Ciceley CEO retires after 36 years and internal promotion provides new leadership

On June 9^th, Colin Briggs is hanging up his briefcase as CEO after 36 years working with the company.

Colin started at Ciceley Commercials Ltd in 1986 as the Aftersales Manager and worked his way up through the business, becoming CEO in 2002. After an incredible 36 years, Colin has decided to retire to spend more quality time with his wife and family.

“The decision to retire has been an incredibly difficult one. I have thoroughly enjoyed my life with Ciceley, being involved in the growth and development of the team and the business, to see all that we have achieved and the successful business that we are, makes me immensely proud.

“I have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic people and the support I have received over the years, not just from the Ciceley team but the Morgan family is second to none. I am delighted to have been asked to remain on the board as a non-executive Director so that I can still be involved in a few projects and continue to see the business develop. Now is the time for me to step down from my CEO position but I leave the business in the very capable hands of Simon Wilson”

Simon Wilson, who has been working alongside Colin as our Finance Director since 2005, will be stepping into the CEO role from Friday 10^th June.

‘Colin is well known in the industry and has done so much for Ciceley Commercials Ltd. We are incredibly sad to see him retire as he is not just our CEO but also a friend to many. We are really pleased that he has decided to remain involved in the business. I am looking forward to starting my new role and the challenges that it will bring. Dealer Principal Andy Heys recently visited the site to take a look at the latest progress and give us a tour of what will soon become our state-of-the-art Truck facility, designed to support customers across Scotland and beyond.

With construction moving forward at pace, it’s fantastic to see our vision becoming a reality. We can’t wait to welcome customers and colleagues through the doors when the site opens later this year.

It was a pleasure to welcome Richard Skidmore to our new Eurocentral dealership yesterday, on what was an incredibly significant day as he was announced as the new Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK.

Firstly, congratulations to Richard on his well-deserved appointment. With his extensive industry knowledge, strong leadership and deep understanding of both our network and our customers, there’s no doubt he is exceptionally well placed to lead Daimler Truck UK into its next chapter. Building on the strong growth and success achieved by Daimler Truck in recent years, we are confident Richard will continue to drive the business forward. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership under his leadership.

Richard`s visit also provided the perfect opportunity to showcase the fantastic progress being made on our new £8 million, state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Daimler Buses dealership at Eurocentral.

The project is progressing exactly as planned, with the facility firmly on track for completion in October, ahead of welcoming our first customers in the first week of November. Each week brings us closer to opening what will be one of the UK’s most advanced commercial vehicle dealerships, delivering an exceptional experience for customers across Scotland and providing a first-class environment for our colleagues and manufacturer partners.

Thank you to Richard for taking the time to visit us during such an exciting week. We look forward to welcoming you back when the doors officially open.
