Lancashire based Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer, Ciceley Commercials Ltd, is doing their part to help boost the local eco system. On Friday the 18thof August 320,000 bees were released into their new homes at sites in Blackburn and Darwen.
Ciceley Commercials Limited, as part of their sustainability mission, have purchased 4 hives and 320,000 bees to be split between their sites on Cicely Lane in Blackburn and on Commercial Road in Darwen just off the Junction 4 exit of the M65.
“It is very important to protect the environment in which we live and work and our new MerceBEES are just one of the things that Ciceley Commercials is doing to work towards a greener future” said Simon Wilson, CEO at Ciceley Commercials.
He added “A third of the UK’s bees have disappeared in the last ten years. Bees are the most efficient pollinator and are responsible for pollinating around 80% of our wildflowers and food crops.
Of course, our bees will produce a large amount of honey, which we will use as gifts for staff and customers.“
This year Ciceley Commercials Ltd celebrates the 50thanniversary of their Mercedes-Benz franchise. Back in 1973, their founder Brian Morgan was successful in securing the first Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer franchise in Lancashire, the second in the UK. Ciceley is still owned and run by the Morgan family and now have 5 sites across the Northwest of England and Southern Scotland with sites in Blackburn, Darwen, Bolton, Carlisle and Dumfries.
As Ciceley celebrate their history they are looking to the future to how, as a business, they can make a difference on their environmental impact. Their MerceBEES are just the latest development in the implementation of their sustainability plan that includes operating electric delivery and courtesy vehicles, increased recycling and solar panels.
