Mercedes-Benz X-Class Pickup

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class - Your Next Company Vehicle

When thinking of choices for your next company car update, a pickup may not be the first thing that springs to mind - but what if we told you that you could save thousands on tax per year, if you decided to switch to a Mercedes-Benz X-Class Pickup?

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class is classified as a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) for DVLA purposes and a pickup for taxation purposes and is therefore taxed differently to a conventional company car.

Unlike cars, tax on the use of an X-Class through a company is levied at a flat rate of £1,372 (for tax year 2019/20). This, in comparison with a Range Rover Vogue (which will cost you £12,334 for tax year 2019/20*) means that you will have an annual saving of £10,962 per year!

So - what other benefits will you have if you decide to choose a Mercedes-Benz X-Class as your next company vehicle?

Double cab pick-ups with a payload of 1,000kg (or more) will be accepted as a van for benefits purposes. The HMRC definition of payload is the “gross vehicle weight” less “unoccupied kerb weight” (otherwise known as unladen weight). The specification of a vehicle can affect the payload of the vehicle and it is therefore advised to check the payload of your required vehicle with your sales executive to ensure it meets the 1,000kg payload requirement.
