Using more fuel than you thought?

Let us check your wheel alignment.
Do you know that?
Incorrect wheel alignment can not only result in premature tyre wear
but can also affect fuel consumption and the handling and safety of the
vehicle. It’s not always possible to detect if the alignment, or ‘tracking’
is out so regular checks are recommended.
More importantly incorrect wheel alignment contributes towards driver fatigue on
longer journeys. The constant minor adjustments means the driver has to work harder
to keep the vehicle in a straight line.
- Speed humps, potholes, clipping kerbs, excessive wear to suspension components or steering can all knock wheels out of alignment.
- Symptoms of wheel misalignment include the vehicle pulling to the left or right*, an offset steering wheel when travelling straight ahead, and irregular wear on front tyres.
- Incorrect alignment is a major cause of premature tyre wear which reduces tyre life and increases your costs.
- Correct wheel alignment combined with the correct tyre pressure minimises rolling resistance and therefore improves the number of miles you get per litre of fuel purchased.
- Both the angle and direction at which wheels are set is important and will be described as toe in /out or positive /negative camber. A tracking check will ensure the wheels are set to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- An inspection of the suspension is included in alignment checks allowing worn partsto be identified early, before they cause costly problems.
If you want to improve your fuel consumption, save on tyre costs and make your ride more comfortable, have a wheel alignment check today.
